Sensitive Ears

My Engineer has always had sensitive ears. When the fire trucks come by in a parade, he cries and holds his hands over his ears. Sometimes he may look quite rude in church when the organist plays longer and louder ovations. He will get a quiver in his lip and put his hands over his ears and lean his face into my arm seeking comfort.

Given this condition, he was quite distressed to hear power saws and power drills in his own home when he was trying to do some school work.

To his sheer joy, I remembered some ear protection we have around the house.

Then, of course, when one child gets something, the other will want it too.

So true about the other child wanting the same thing! Good thinking by you, though.

My sister used to have sensitive ears also. She'd whimper and hold her ears when a loud tractor trailer drove by our car on the freeway.

LOL....

My son is sensitive to noise, as am I. When we had our Corolla, the road noise in the back seat was louder, and he HATED driving in the car.

Unfortunately, he learned to read early, and would see on the freeway "Pasadena Next 9 Exits" and he would scream "I CAN"T HANDLE NINE MORE EXITS!!!" At 3 1/2, he couldn't understand that we were getting off at the next one.

Pre-operational thinking meets too much information.

Glad you have those earphones around. Chris gets good use out of his, too.

How funny that even ear protection is coveted! (Can you tell I'm an only child and a mother of none?)

Your scholars are looking most studious today. These ear protectors are better than ipods, oui?
