I am very ready for spring. Here are the last garden green beans from last year's harvest. They will fill out the beef stew simmering in the crock pot for supper. Who besides a home schooler has Periodic Table of the Elements placemats?
Along with this one our school has placemats illustrating: U.S. presidents, great composers, map of the U.S, the Solar System, northern and southern hemsphere constellation maps, and musical instruments of the orchestra, and flags of the world.

That would be Nathan! If Amelia had them memorized on Monday she would ask on Tuesday what oxygen was.
Last Sunday we took her out to finally buy the roller blades we promised her for her birthday. It turned out we had no luck at the first few store so it turned into an all day thing. We ate lunch at the family restaurant near by and had pizza for dinner. It was like a vacation for me -- shopping and no cooking :-) We've never had a day like that when we were not on vacation before. It was special and fun. At bedtime I hugged Amelia and told her she had something exciting to write about in her journal. She looked at me confused and said, "What? Did we go to a play today or something?"
