I probably don't need to explain how thankful the Quipper and I are that we do not need to paste smiles on our faces and go through grueling hours, (okay, minutes--but it seemed like hours) of Candyland and Chutes and Ladders any more.

Last night we played concentration. 
We had a ball watching the keen memories of the little ones, the Quipper and I and remarking how we knew exactly where certain matches were located a few games ago, and so on.As an extra bonus, the kids enjoy playing these games with each other too. With the exception of Yahtzee, they can play them without our help. The Engineer still wants to go for a Yahtzee on every turn rather than earning higher scores by filling out the entire score card!
What games do your families play? Are they fun for everyone?

We like to play Game of Life, Monopoly, and Jr. Clue. Our oldest learned how to play Tile Rummy at Christmas and Yahtzee just after. Like your little one our little on likes to go for the Yahtzee as well. :-)
We're an evil modern family. Right now my DH and kids are hooked on Super Monkey Ball on the Game Cube. We've also been known to play Pirates of the Spanish Main, which I guess is like a role playing type game. Wildchild was big on her Strawberry Shortcake game for a while.
Looks likes you guys had fun. We love to play Cranium with the girls.

'Trouble' is so cool. I love that bubble-dice-rolling thingy. There are too few games that employ that ingenious device. It makes a very unique sound, too.
'Aggravation' is king of the board games where I'm from. Which is basically 'Trouble' on steroids. Nothing gets competitive juices going like that game.
And don't go dissing 'Chutes and Ladders'! I still play that game. Although often by myself.

wow, you guys have a fabulous *concentration* memory. my kiddos seem to always beat me: probably cos i'm doing too many things at once.

we're into anything cranium, the boys love LOTR risk (you get to take over the world). D17 has a game called cathedral which is very cool too....
and J11 is the poker whizz.
Hey Kate, does your son's Cathedral game involve taking territory with little buildings? My husband and his roomie in college used to play a game called Cathedral.
