Interesting Article

Being a book lover and revering old books as I do, I was attracted by a photo in a past issue of my Smithsonian subscription that I had finally gotten around to reading. There was a photo of a Smithsonian scientist examining pages of an ancient Coptic Bible.

The name of the exhibit being publicized was the final hook to reel me into the story: "While the Bible's content has obviously had a major impact on the world, what's less well known is how its format would alter publishing forever. A new exhibition, In the Beginning: Bibles Before the Year 1000...
It was fascinating to read about why the codex format of recording words was used by early Christians and how writing text in columns on cut and bound folios overtook the use of scrolls.
